Unemployment rates have increased drastically across the globe; some industries such as the travel & hospitality and restaurant industry have been hit the hardest.

If you had a job that was affected by the first few months of 2020, you’re more than likely scratching your head on what to do. How will you provide for your family? How will you pay your monthly bills and keep your household afloat? First off, know you’re not alone facing this worldwide epidemic. Secondly, let’s tap into your skillset and figure out what job opportunities are accessible to you.

  1. If You Are Personable:

Do you enjoy having conversations with others and simply welcome human interaction? If so, you’re more than likely a sociable person and able to carry on a conversation. Being personable is a strong skill to have within the workforce – even when things are digital. Being that you are someone who enjoys engaging and interacting with others, you should look at jobs titled “virtual assistant”, “personal assistant”, “customer service representative”, and “online teacher”. Some of these jobs offer flexibility, meaning there isn’t a set timeframe in which you need to complete them.

As we all know, a lot of the work we do on a daily basis can be done virtually through video conferencing software or phone calls. Finding hourly positions such as a virtual assistant or online teacher would be a great outlet for people with big personalities who thrive on human interaction. While these jobs might lack in-person interaction, people in these job functions are still interacting with people daily through the use of technology, and trust us, the human touch goes a long way in job responsibilities such as these.

2. If You Are Proficient in Typing:

Living in present day, being efficient at typing is beneficial in various job functions – especially jobs such as data entry or freelance transcription jobs. One job responsibility AI (Artificial Intelligence) won’t be able to take from us (at least for a while) is data entry jobs. Reading the information and then inputting it correctly into the corresponding format is a vital job function many companies currently have a need for.

Being able to type quickly, you should also look for freelance transcription jobs. There can be speaker videos, seminars, or trade shows from industries such as the medical or legal sectors that need a quick set of fingers to simply transcribe spoken words onto a neatly typed word document. The best part of these typing jobs is that they can be fulfilled from the comfort of your own home and more than likely don’t have set hours in which they need to be completed – they just need to be completed within a certain time frame.

If you’re not sure if you are proficient in typing or simply want to see your WPM (word per minute), you can test out your typing speed via LiveChat.

3. If You Are Willing To Drive:

We are in the midst of a global pandemic – something that might have been unimaginable at the start of the new year but now has become a way of life. This is an excellent time to weigh your options and explore new job opportunities. For example, two job functions that have persevered through difficult times are commercial drivers and delivery drivers.

Imagine what life would have been like without truck drivers delivering supplies to grocery stores or without Amazon’s deliveries – we all would have been in a significantly less-than-ideal situation.

Being a truck driver or delivery driver often gets overlooked as a job function, despite having some amazing benefits. Beyond having awesome benefits such as insurance and medical, this is an ideal position for introverts or for people who don’t mind spending some quality time with themselves. Perhaps you’re not ready to drive an 18-wheeler and apply for a CDL license; there are other delivery services such as FedEx, UPS, and Amazon that have a big demand for drivers currently.

If you are interested in learning the steps on how to get a CDL license, you can visit this article via Driving Tests.

Above we listed three different job functions that are huge on the market right now – however there are many more. Depending on your location and capabilities, there are more jobs ready for you to apply at the touch of your fingertips.
